After the success of First Take, voted disc of the year by Jazz Magazine, Archie Shepp releases the second album of his label Archieball. Kindred Spirit Vol. 1, a live album, was recorded with the Dar Gnawa of Tanger during a tour of France by the Archie Shepp quartet in 2003. Album is witness of a burning encounter between dances, searing and sacred songs, orchestrated by the Prince of the Black Poets. Kindred Spirit Vol. 1 is the first disc of a series of encounters to come.
